Lawrence "Larry" Hubbard Tate, 54, passed away October 14, 2013. He was born in Richmond, VA the son of Lawrence Hubbard Tate, Sr. and the late Mary Louise Hines Tate. He was also predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Vose. Larry was the president and owner of Shire Software Engineering. He was an active member of Suffolk Christian Fellowship, the Roger Deer Club, and sponsor of the Generation Joshua Club, Vice Chairman of the I.O.W. GOP, and was an Eagle Scout.

Larry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Gina C. Tate; father, Lawrence H. Tate, Sr., daughters, Grace and Hope Tate; sons, Daniel, Stephen, Nigel, Adam, and Joel Tate; sisters and brother-in-law, Jane and Terry Wright, Marianne T. McKay; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jay and Linda Tate, Art and Tina Tate; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Open Door Church, 816 Kings Fork Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434. Burial will be held prior to the service at St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield, VA. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Thursday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA and other times at the residence.
