Lawrence Allen Eley, 87, of Suffolk, VA passed away February 1, 2007. He was a born in Southampton County the son of the late, Presley L. Eley, Sr. and Margaret O. C. Eley Griffin. He retired as a shipping clerk from Ramsey Lumber Company. Lawrence was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Janie Marie Harvell Eley and a brother, Carey M. Eley.

He is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret E. Ramsey of Suffolk, VA, Angie E. and Henry R. Griffin of Windsor, VA; brothers and sister-in-law, Presley L. Eley, Jr., Kenneth C. and Joanne W. Eley all of Suffolk, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 5, 2007 at Parr Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday at the funeral home from 3-4 p.m. and other times at the residence of Margaret Ramsey at 1009 McArthur Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434.
