Laurie Bailey "Laura" Newsome, 102, passed away on November 2, 2025. She was born in Wakefield, VA to the late Mabel Harvell and Joseph Henry Bailey. She is also predeceased by her husband, Thomas Wilroy Newsome; sister, Helen Bailey Griffin; and brothers, Joseph Harvell Bailey and George Cary Bailey. She attended Norfolk General School of Nursing and then worked as a registered nurse for several hospitals before retiring from Maryview Mental Health. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.

Laura is survived by her daughter, June N. Cooley; grandson, Christopher David Cooley (Michaela); great granddaughters, Hannah, Eleanor, Madison, and Freyja; sister in law, Johanna Bailey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
