Larry Hugh Rountree, 74, passed away on March 5, 2021 from his long battle with cancer. Larry was born on October 15, 1946 to the late Emma and James W. Rountree Sr. He is also predeceased  by his brother James W. Rountree, Jr.  Larry was a retired salesman from both Environmental Controls of Virginia and Sentry Services.

Larry loved spending time in the organizations that meant so much to him including the Nansemond River Power Squadron, Suffolk Lodge #30, Scottish Rite Portsmouth, Khedive Temple, and  a member of Suffolk Christian Church. Larry was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and was awarded the bronze star. He also was a novice boat captain, successful salesman, favorite uncle and lifelong friend.

He is survived by his niece Karin Rountree Benningfield (Cecil Benningfield) and great nephew, Gage Warren Benningfield, and many cousins as well as his lifelong love, Lavonne Farless.

A Celebration of Larry's life will be held at Suffolk Christian Church on March 12, 2021 at 2pm. with military honors  with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Larry's desire was that donations would be made to Suffolk Christian Church's Bus fund and the Shriners' Transportation fund. Condolences may be registered online www.parrfuneralhome.com.
