Lara Dawn Slaughter, 54, of Smithfield, VA passed away December 29, 2011. She was born in Miami, FL the daughter of Delores Wilsey Lichteig and the late Charles Lichteig. She worked as a commercial truck driver.


In addition to her mother, Lara is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Slaughter; daughters, Lauren Thone of Portsmouth, VA and Kristen Thone of Vail, Iowa; son, Chris Shaw; and four grandchildren.


A celebration of life service will be held Monday, January 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434, with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.
