L. Katherine "Kathy" Cruey Smith, 84, went to be with her Lord on October 23, 2025. She was born in Cedar Bluff, Virginia to the late Bertha McGlothlin and Edward Napoleon Cruey. She is also predeceased by her husband, Stanley Allen Smith, and her sister, Brenda Hodsdon. She worked in civil service as a supply clerk at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 30 years before retiring. She was a former long standing member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Kathy is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Waddy; grandchildren, Brian Casto and Nicole Casto; brothers, Tommy Cruey (Diane), Jerry Cruey (Kelly), and Ervin Cruey (Nancy); brother in law, Richard Hodsdon; and cat, Bella Rue.

Kathy's funeral service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Caleb Cruey officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SPCA in honor of Kathy.
