Kenneth Elizabeth Smith Gayle, 88, passed away July 14, 2013. She was born in Roanoke, VA the daughter of the late Kenneth Floyd Smith and Annie Elizabeth Howell Smith. She was predeceased by her husband, James Elwood Gayle, Jr. She was a member of Oakland Christian Church. She devoted her whole life to caring for her husband and five children. Her family and her friends will miss her dearly.

Kenneth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Connie White, Barbara Turner (Ronnie), Diane Bowman (Louis); sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Gayle (Lisa), Bryan Gayle (Barbara); grandchildren and their spouses, Kristi Dubois (Joseph), Michael Gayle, Heather Brown (Kevin), James Gayle, and John Xenakis; great grandchildren, Jacob, Aedan, Reagan, and Harper; brothers, Floyd B. Smith, Rudolph Smith, and Henry L. Vick, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Janet Weidler officiating. A private burial will follow the service at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday afternoon from 2 - 4 p.m. at her residence.
