Kelly Johnson, Sr., 69, of Suffolk, VA passed away May 26, 2007 with his family by his side. He was born in Big Stone Gap, VA the son of the late Paul Lloyd Johnson and Polly Viola Lovell Johnson. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Kelly Caroline Johnson. He retired as a Foreman Machinist from Amadas Industries. He worked with the rescue squad in Big Stone Gap, VA and was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Kelly was a devoted husband who loved his children and adored his grandchildren. He always enjoyed his work and on his free time he loved to watch Nascar where he was a big fan of Jimmy Johnson.
Kelly is survived by his wife of 48 years, Caroline Sue Johnson of Suffolk, VA; daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann and William Glenn Cooke of Gates Co., NC, Maxie Caroline and Barry Edward Hathaway of Windsor, VA; sons and daughters-in-law, Kelly Johnson, Jr. and Nora D. Johnson; Keith Turner and Beth Johnson all of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Mark, Nicholas, and Jason Baines, Kayla, Tyler, Bryan, Jarrid, and Konner Johnson; and loving pet, Silver; brother; sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home with Brother Soloman Darden officiating. Entombment will follow at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Kelly's family would like to extend their gratitude to his niece, Angie Sprouse.
