Obituary

Justine Catherine Alt Thiemens, 84, made her peaceful transition Sept. 17, 2009. She was a native of St. Louis, Mo., daughter of Howard William Alt and Elvira Hulda Wittmann Alt. Justine was a beloved wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a charter member of Unity Renaissance Church.

Justine leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Arthur Albert Thiemens of Suffolk; son, Mark Thiemens and daughter-in-law Nasrin Marzban of Carlsbad, Calif.; son, Scott Thiemens and Encarnita Alcarn of SW Ranches, Fla.; daughter, Christy Thiemens of Norfolk; grandchildren, Scott Thiemens Jr., Max Thiemens, Lily Thiemens, Justine Encarn Thiemens; great-grandchild, Remi Thiemens; and friends, Sue Vreeland, Virginia Coy and numerous other loved ones. Justine was active in her community. She was a charter member of the Western Branch Lions Club, founding member of Unity Renaissance Church, Churchland Child Opportunity pre-school instructor, ballroom dance instructor, team mother and volunteer for Chesapeake Parks and Recreation, Meals on Wheels, Arts and Crafts for the blind for Churchland Lions Club program, Western Branch band parent and Girl Scouting. She also enjoyed her Tuesday morning church class, bowling, sewing, crafts, bird watching, swimming, dancing, and family vacations at Long Beach, N.C. Justine was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
