Julie Loretta Virginia Carroll Payne, 87, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024.  She was born in Westminster, SC the daughter of the late Sam Alvin and Sleetie Cole Sanford Carroll.  In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Clarence Payne and siblings, Julius Alvin Carroll, William Sam Carroll, Pansy Carroll, George Kenneth Carroll, Ray Carroll, James Harold Carroll, Bobby Franklin Carroll, Melvin Carroll and Mary Jane Carroll.  Julie was the owner/operator of Deer Run Campground and Payne Trucking.  She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Julie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Lee, Sr. and Alice H. Payne, Timothy Scott and Renea S. Payne; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Lynn and Barry Lynn Gay; grandchildren, Barry Lynn Gay, Jr., Jamie Leigh Payne Hogge, Walter Lee Payne, Jr., Austin Scott Payne, Laura Ashley Payne; great grandchildren, Kearstin McKenna Hatfield, Sydney Danielle Hogge, Emma James Hogge, Colton Reid Payne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk, VA 23435 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev.
