Nichols Kovalik
February 28, 1949 – January 15, 2023
Judith Nichols Kovalik, 73, of Suffolk, Virginia passed away on January 15, 2023. Born and raised in Suffolk, Virginia, Judy was the daughter of the late Charlie Emery Nichols and Ethel Duke Nichols. Judy is also predeceased by her brothers, James Emery Nichols and William "Tom" Talmadge Nichols.
Judy dedicated her life to helping others. She worked in the ICU at Obici Hospital for ten years and retired as an LPN from Bon Secours Home Health. Judy was a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church and was a long-time member of the choir, bell choir, Sunday school and bible studies. She enjoyed making crafts, taking trips to Nags Head and spending time with family and friends. Judy will always be remembered for the all the love and joy she brought to the Kovalik family when she married Rich, her love of "anything" pineapples and her love of the Christmas season.
Left to cherish Judy's memory is her husband of 22 years, Richard "Rich" John Kovalik, their children, Tim R. Kovalik and wife Nanita D. Kovalik, Lori E. Schoepke and husband Mark C. Schoepke, grandchildren, Dakota, Allie, Sidney and McKinley, sisters-in-law, Sue Harrell Nichols, Carolyn English Nichols and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were very special to her.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Liberty Spring Christian Church with Pastor Res Spears officiating. A time of visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
