Joyce M. Marshall, 87, passed away on August 12, 2025. She was born in Pearisburg, Virginia, to the late Milton F. and Bertha P. McElrath. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, James (Jim) L. Marshall Jr.; her son, Timothy J. Marshall (Alice); and her stepgrandchildren, Rachel Siker (Chris) and Colleen Russell. Joyce was predeceased by her sister, Reva June McElrath, and her brother, French Henry McElrath.

Joyce attended Pearisburg High School followed by Radford College and Seton Hall University. She graduated from Radford College in June 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Joyce enjoyed playing the clarinet in both high school and college taking a number of trips with the marching bands. She also met her husband, Jimmie, as he is known to family, when residing in Pearisburg while he was a student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

Joyce is remembered for her smile and jovial personality. Earlier in life, Joyce and Jimmie made their home in the New Jersey/New York area where Joyce enjoyed attending Broadway musicals and plays. She was a member of various community groups and enjoyed gardening accompanied by a fondness for feeding the birds and squirrels.

Later in life, Joyce enjoyed the many RV adventures she shared with her husband and son. She especially enjoyed trips to Pearisburg to visit with her friends at high school reunions. Upon her husband's retirement, Joyce and Jim moved to Suffolk, VA where she resided for the remainder of her life.
