Joseph Augustus Umphlett, 76, of Suffolk passed away on May 15, 2009. A native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late Joseph Jackson Umphlett and Daisy Ashley Umphlett.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, William J. "Jack" Umphlett, Sr. and Betty Umphlett and nephews, William J. Umphlett, Jr., George Curtis Umphlett and wife Haley; and great niece and nephew, Jasmine and Brian all of Suffolk.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. T. Floyd Irby, Jr. officiating. Friends may join the family at the funeral home Sunday evening for visitation from 3 - 4 p.m and other times at the residence of Jack and Betty Umphlett.
