Joseph Holland Munford, 57, of Smithfield, VA passed away January 30, 2009. He was born in Newport News, VA the son of the late Inez Holland Munford and William Andrew Munford, Sr. He was also predeceased by his brother, William Andrew Munford, Jr. Joe was the owner and operator of Munford Well Company. He was a member of Great Spring Church of the Nazarene where he was a member of the Church Board and was the Treasurer. He was also a life member of the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad where he served as Past President and Captain. In 1980 Joe was named Outstanding Man of the year by the Smithfield Jaycees.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 14 years, Anne Kee Munford of Smithfield, VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon M. and Eric Spain of Smithfield, VA, Sarah C. and Greg Lee of Virginia Beach, VA; sons and daughter-in-law, Brandon J. and Jodi Munford of Newburgh, NY, Jeremy G. Canfield of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren, Jenna Spain, Ethan Spain, and Anna Lee; sister, Rebecca S. Munford of Ivor, VA.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Mill Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. John Bauswell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday afternoon from 2 - 4:30 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA.
