Michael Stephens

Joseph Michael Stephens passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was 60 years old and was surrounded by family and friends. Mike was born on August 30, 1957 and was predeceased in death by his father, Joseph A. Stephens and his mother, Louise Q. Stephens Blake.
He is survived by his dad, Bill Blake; daughter, Amanda Burkhardt (Jerry); sons, Chris Stephens (Jeannette), Brooks Stephens and Hunter Stephens; girlfriend, Deborah Moser; grandchildren, Brandon Rice (Courtney), Kayla Platteel, Gabrielle Burkhardt and Madelyn Burkhardt; great grandchildren, Bryson Rice and Carley Rice; sister, Karla Cobb (Timmy); half-sister, Debbie Stephens Carter (Brian); eight step-sisters, two step-brothers, nieces, Brittany Cobb and Kriston Cobb West (Josh); great nephew, Grady West; aunts, Nancy Rountree (Bobby) and Sylvia Hannah; and cousins, Judy Rountree Pearson (Brian) and Kim Rountree O'Brien (Vince).
Mike worked several warehouse jobs in his career and recently was the General Manager of The Vance County Fair in Henderson, NC. A longtime resident of Isle of Wight County, Mike spent a lifetime involved in civic organizations such as the Franklin JC's, Windsor Athletic, Walter's Ruritans, Western Tidewater Girl's Softball Association, Windsor High School Booster Club, Isle of Wight County Fair Chairman, and Paul D. Camp Hurricane Club President. Mike was a member of the Trouble Band, as well as various local softball teams such as Moody's Softball of Smithfield, and state and national champion's Dean's Dozen of Windsor.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to Paul D. Camp Baseball at PDCCC Foundation and in the memo line put "Athletics", c/o David Mitchell, 100 N. College Dr., Franklin, VA 23851.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, August 16 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation following the service. Friends & family will gather afterwards at the home of Tim & Karla Cobb. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
