Joseph "Jimmy" James Simpson, Jr., 69, passed away December 13, 2012. He was born in Nansemond County to the late Ira Mae Ashley Simpson and Joseph James Simpson. He was predeceased by his brother, Carlton Simpson. He worked as a Lieutenant for the Suffolk Fire Department and later went on to retire from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Nuclear Pipefitter. Jimmy was always full of life. He enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, playing pool, and fishing. He had a passion for helping family and friends with their home projects.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Becky Simpson; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy Simpson (Becca) of FL and Ashley Simpson (Tammy) of Suffolk; granddaughter, Erica Simpson; sister and brother-in-law, Judy Garris (Jerry) of Windsor; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Simpson (Sandra) of Suffolk, Donnie Simpson (Sharon) of Chesapeake; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

A funeral service will be held Sunday December 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. Micah Voight officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
