Joseph Earl Groves, of Surry County, Virginia passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Born in Mt. Nebo, West Virginia, He was a retired Sgt. First Class with the U.S. Army and bravely fought for his country in the Vietnam War.

Joseph is predeceased by his daughter Mary Elizabeth Groves Dorsey. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Zada Marie Groves Norfleet, daughters; Teresa Sue Nurney and Katherine M. Goodrich (Bobby), grandchildren; Gary F. Groves, Raymond Nurney, Coty R. Groves-Deen (Emilee) and Christopher R. Marshall, great-grandchildren; Sawyer Beau Deen and Skylyn Rose Deen. Half-sisters, Lorene C. Harrell (Jimmy) and Loretta C. Ellis (Billy); long-time caregiver, Dawn LaBaud.

A Graveside service with military honors will be held on November 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating.
