Joseph "Ed" Edward
Moore, Jr.
September 19, 1946 – May 1, 2026
Western Branch Baptist Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Joseph “Ed” Moore, Jr., 79, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully in his home on May 1, 2026. Born on September 19, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of the late Joseph Edward Moore, Sr. and his beloved mother, Katherine Murriel Wynn Barter.
Ed dedicated his life to the service of others, both personally, mentoring and advocating for young people with disabilities, and professionally, selling and maintaining restaurant equipment for many years before retiring. He was a devoted member of Western Branch Baptist Church, where he found comfort and community as a member of his church choir.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Mandy Moore. Ed leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his wife, Marilyn W. Moore; his son, Bradley Edward Moore, and daughter-in-law, Kaydee; his step-children, Angela Carson and her husband Brian, Deanna Johnson, and Crystal Quinlan. He was a proud grandfather and “Real Life Cowboy” to Taylor and Olivia Moore, among others. Ed is also survived by his siblings, Katherine Morse and Daniel Moore.
Ed will be remembered fondly as an exemplar of family values: a big brother, protector and provider; a loving husband, who honored the love of his life until his last breath; a father beyond reproach, an inimitable mentor and role model. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Western Branch Baptist Church, 6952 Old Myrtle Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434.
Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com or mailed to 1300 Park Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23324.
