Obituary

Joseph Franklin "Scussy" Cook Sr, 78, passed away April 30, 2025.  He was born in Southampton County, VA to the late Maggie Wells and Robert H. Cook Jr. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Delores Kay Daughtrey Cook; and brothers, Bennie, Thomas, Leonard, and William Cook. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. He worked different jobs during his lifetime, but was most fond of his time farming. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races with Chase Elliott at the wheel and the Dallas Cowboys on gameday. His favorite pastime was to listen to good country music with an ice cold Busch.

Scussy is survived by his wife, Joyce W. Cook; daughters, Dawn Cook (Buck) and Kim Cook; sons, Joe Jr. Cook, Jamie Cook (Sue);  grandchildren, J.J., Lil Rog, Lexi, Hunter, Austin, Cole, Brooke, Tyler, Blake, and Mason; great grandchildren, Jayden, Braylen, Grayson, Colton, Kinslee, Ember, Lily, and Stella; brothers, Robert H. Cook (Katherine), John R. Cook (Betty), and Richard Cook (Teresa); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special thanks to Trinity Hospice staff, Melanie, Patricia, and Faith for their love and care of dad.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Offer condolences at parrfuneralhome.com.
