Jonathan David Derrick, 36, of Chesapeake, VA passed away peacefully in his home on September 20, 2014 surrounded by people he loved. He was born in Suffolk, VA to Buddy and Shelby Derrick. He is predeceased by his grandfather, Robert Macioci, and grandparents, Alvin and Laura Derrick.
Along with his parents, Jonathan leaves behind a wife of 8 years, Kelli Hawkins-Derrick and 2 beautiful boys Cayden , 7, and Cameron, 3; Brother, Chris Derrick; Nieces, Alexis, Caitlin, and Karis Derrick; Grandmother, Jean Macioci, Grandfather, George Smith, Jr.; In Laws, Joyce and Bill Hawkins, Lori Hough, and Lisa Beaman. He also leaves his 4 legged companion, Baxter. Jonathan co-owned KDX Dance Explosion with his wife. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and Total Image Car and Truck Club. He had a passion for cars and trucks and he won numerous awards for his Blazer which is "Under Construction". Jonathan's creativity won awards in local parades and festivals including "Best Commercial Float" in Norfolk's Grand Illumination Parade. We would like to thank everyone who walked this journey with us and Jonathan will always be remembered as a fighter up until the end.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 7-9pm at Parr Funeral Home in Suffolk, VA and the Celebration of Jonathans Life will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Pinecrest Baptist Church, 209 Felton Rd., Portsmouth, VA 23701.
