John Melvin Preston, 62, of Suffolk, VA passed away on June 2, 2008. A native of Wellsboro, PA, he was the son of the late Melvin Preston and Virginia Sayre Preston. He was a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper and served in the United States Air Force as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam War. John was a member of the Galeton, PA Fire Company and Tioga County Fire Police.

He is survived by his wife, Linda B. Preston of Suffolk, VA; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Tammi P. and Craig Butler of Columbus, OH and Lynsie P. and Sean Rukgaber of Galeton, PA; a step-daughter Keiley C. Vickers of Norfolk, VA; son and daughter-in-law Thomas J. and Kim Preston of Columbus, OH; step-son and daughter-in-law Wayne E. Vickers, Jr. and Ember of Alexandria, VA; and 5 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA with the Rev. Tommy Reynolds officiating.
