John "Fats" Norfleet Griggs, 89, of Franklin, passed away on January 9, 2012. A native of Nansemond County, VA he was predeceased by his parents, Eddie Lee Griggs and Bertha Maie Norfleet Griggs; his brothers and sisters: James Edward Griggs, Eddie Lee Griggs, Jr., Edith Griggs Peeples, Virginia Griggs Brinkley, Ethel G. Wheeler and Thelma Marie Griggs. John was a farmer and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his sister, Jean Griggs Cutchins and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Greg Hammer officiating.
