John David Heins died on February 7, 2016 in Boone, North Carolina. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on December 10, 1974 to Jacquelyn R. Heins and the late Roger J. Heins. He was a graduate of Kempsville High School and attended Caldwell Community College in Boone, North Carolina and North Carolina Wesleyan college in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
John had a zest for life and a love of the outdoors. He enjoyed a wide variety of music, traveling, UNC basketball, hiking in the quietness of the mountains, feeding and observing wild birds, listening to the roar of the ocean, and walking his dogs. Most of all, John loved his family and friends. His love will continue to live in the hearts of many.
He is survived by his mom, Jackie Heins, his sister, Anna McLeod and her husband, Jerry and two special nieces, Kayla and Emily McLeod, all of Suffolk. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, February 27 at 1 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 917 Carolina Road, Suffolk, Virginia.
