John Richard Engle Sr., 86, passed away November 6, 2023.  He was born in Michigan the son of the late John Henry Engle and Olive Ida Teal Engle.  He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Margie Louis Turner Engle.  John was a United States Navy veteran.  He later went on to work and then retired as a hydraulic engineer for Suffolk Equipment.

John is survived by his daughters, Jo Anna E. Boyd and Teresa E. Brock; sons, James A. Engle and John R. Engle, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Louise, Marilyn, Rosa, and Lou; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, November12, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating.  Burial will be private at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
