John Roland Ellison IV, 51, of Suffolk, passed away December 14, 2021.  He was the son of the late Elizabeth H. "Betty" Ellison and John R. "Jack" Ellison III. John attended both Nansemond Suffolk Academy and Suffolk High School.

John loved the outdoors and cherished the times he spent hunting with his late father and fishing with his daughter, Michelle. He worked in a number of different fields throughout his life including in the food service industry, in construction and carpentry and most recently as a plumber's helper.  Most will remember John as a good friend with a kind heart who loved his friends and family without end. His kindness and free spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his daughter, Michelle Hayes Ellison and her mother, Jessica E. Durham of Chesapeake, VA; sister Elizabeth H. Ellison, MD and niece, Ellison Hayes Blangy of Richmond VA; and his aunt, Virginia Hayes "Sister" Hunter of Richmond, VA.

Visitation will be held the evening of Monday, December 20, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
