John Andrew Chaney, 48, of Suffolk, passed away on July 24, 2009. A native of Suffolk, VA he was the son of the late John L. Chaney and Margaret Matthews Chaney. Andy had a great love for baseball and softball and was a member of numerous softball teams. He attended Southside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan Green Chaney; two sons, Brandon A. Chaney and N. Ryan Chaney; sister and brother-in-law, Diane Chaney Walker and Robert D. Walker; brother, Philip E. Chaney; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ina and Johnnie Rawls; and brother-in-law Gordie Green; nieces, Amanda Rawls, Ashley Rawls and Amy Chaney; nephews, Stan Riddick and Webb Green; two great nieces; two great nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.
