Joe Don Arrowood, Sr., 69, of Suffolk, VA passed away April 10, 2010. He was born in Highpoint, NC the son of the late William McCoy Arrowood and Viola Maggie Shehan Arrowood. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Dairl E. and James F. Arrowood. Joe retired from bridge maintenance at the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mamie O. Jernigan Arrowood of Suffolk; sons, Joe Don Arrowood, Jr. and wife Kathy of Suffolk, David Lee Arrowood and wife, Rhonda of Melfa; William Rodney Arrowood and fiancé Tammy of Suffolk; grandchildren, Kristen, Dallas, Shane, Ashley, Justin, Addison, Riley, John, Dennis, Shannon, Don Eric, and Tessa; great grandchildren, Hunter, Zaine, Jace, Jordyn, Carson, and Evan; sisters, Elaine Alexandra of St. Stephens Church, VA, Pam Hackney of Concord, NC; brothers, William C. Arrowood of Culpepper, Douglas Arrowood of Chestertown, MD, Roger Arrowood of Fredricksburg; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. E. Clifton Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
