Giovanna "Joann" Falzone DiGiovanni, 86, passed away February 16, 2016 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Rosario and Carmellia Falzone. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Gabriel DiGiovanni; and son, Joseph DiGiovanni. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Presentation Catholic Church since 1988. A prolife activist, she volunteered with the Crisis Pregnancy Center to counsel and help new moms. She was a Toastmasters member and very active with the local Republican Party.

Joann is survived by her daughter, Johanna Toth and her husband, Michael; sons, Carlo DiGiovanni, James DiGiovanni, and Edward DiGiovanni; grandchildren, Jaclyn Herrmann and her husband, Rickie; Kristen Walter and her husband, Patrick, and Kaitlin Toth; great grandchildren, Jakson and Carter Walter, Garrett and Claire Herrmann; and numerous other children she considered her grandchildren.

Mom was a teacher at heart. She taught her children, family and friends to love, believe in ourselves and always trust in God.Her love for Christ inspired her to teach First Holy Communion, through which she found so much joy!
Our hearts are breaking, but we are at peace in knowing mom is at home rejoicing with Christ our Savoir in Heaven and dancing with Daddy! Mom's words and fond memories will be in our hearts forever! "Momma, please watch over us from Heaven….to the stars and back….we love you! Rest in Heavenly peace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at St. Mary's of the Presentation Catholic Church, 202 S. Broad Street, Suffolk, VA with Father Emmanuel Mensah officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a visitation Saturday night from 6-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA.
