Joan Patricia Tyler, 88, of Suffolk, VA passed away March 13, 2009. She was born in Cardiff South Wales the daughter of the late William and Gertrude Tudor. She was also predeceased by her husband, William Howard Tyler and grandson, Brent Tyler. While in Europe Joan served in the British Army. She retired from A & P Tea Company and volunteered at Obici Hospital for many years. She was a member of Suffolk Presbyterian Church.


Joan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia T. and Tom Lynn of Suffolk, VA; son, John Rodney Tyler of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Michelle Kershner (George), Stacey Grooms (David), and Chase Tyler; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Caitlin, Derek, and Storey.


A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Suffolk Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rebecca Lesley officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA and other times at the residence.
