Joan Elisabeth Moon Hughes went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2011. She was born in Oil City, PA the daughter of the late Oakie Olean Caldwell Moon and Charles Byron Moon. She retired as a nurse from Maryview Nursing Home. She was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church. She was active in her community in working with Meals on Wheels and volunteering with the Electoral Board. She was a member of the VFW, the Women's Club, Wilroy Ruritan Club, and D.A.V.

Joan is survived by her children, Larry and wife, Linda; Carol; Buckley and wife, Fernanda; Patsy; and Raymond; stepson, Charles; stepdaughter, Carol; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and 3 sisters. She will be sadly missed by all.

Friends may join the family Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 10 a.m.-12 noon at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA for a time of visitation. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with Rev. Micah Voight officiating.
