Jessie Quinton Byrd, 87, passed away August 10, 2010. He was a native of Suffolk, VA. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII and receiving the Bronze Star. Jessie went on to retire after 48 years as the Maintenance Superintendant for Kraft Standard Brands. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Suffolk Masonic Lodge #30, and Suffolk Moose Lodge #141.

Jessie was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Mary Gold Byrd and sons, David Q. and Howard E. Byrd. He is survived by his son, Jesse Keith Byrd and wife, Teresea Lynn Byrd of Suffolk; grandchildren, Deborah and Jessica; 3 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Roger D. Johnson officiating.
