Jesse Matthew Erwin, Sr. – J.M. – age 82 of Zuni, Virginia, was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend.  He passed into the arms of his Savior on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Portsmouth after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Janet Gaskin Erwin, and grandson, Jesse Erwin.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons Jay (Joanna), Zuni; Tommy (Sonya), Suffolk; Chris (Rita), Scottsville; Sam (Melia), Zuni.  He leaves an amazing heritage of love and faith to his twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren whom he adored.  He also leaves his brothers Gayle, Cathedral City, California, and Wayne (Kathy), Bayou La Batre, Alabama.

The family will welcome friends at Parr Funeral Home in Suffolk on Saturday, July 27, from 11:00 a.m. until noon, when we will celebrate and remember his life during a funeral service with Lindsay Poteat and Chris Erwin officiating.  Interment will immediately follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
