Jerry Hayes Sadler, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in his hometown of Suffolk, Virginia. Born on August 24, 1945, Jerry lived a full and dedicated life of 80 years.

Jerry proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his commitment to duty and honor. Following his service, he continued to protect and serve his community as a firefighter for the City of Suffolk, where his bravery and dedication were evident to all who knew him.

A man of deep faith, Jerry was an active member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, where he was known as a prayer warrior. His strong Christian beliefs guided him throughout his life, providing comfort and strength to those around him.

Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often tending to his vegetable garden and enjoying visits to Amish country. These interests reflected his appreciation for nature and a peaceful, humble lifestyle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Esmond Wise Sadler, Jr. and Margie Christine Hayes Brickhouse. Jerry leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Pamela Jean Ivey Sadler; cherished son, Shaun Edwards and his wife Angela; dear brother, Steve Ivey and his wife Lynn; nephew, Brandon Ivey; niece, Kristen Brinkley; and special great-niece, Charlee.

A graveside service to honor Jerry's life will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Pastor Curtis "Curt" Faison and will include military and fireman honors to commemorate Jerry's service and dedication.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Men's Ministry, reflecting Jerry's lifelong commitment to his faith and community.
