Jefferies Cuttler Hawley, 76, of Suffolk, passed away May 9, 2014. He was born in Appomattox, VA to the late George and Louise Cyrus Hawley. J.C. retired as a conductor for Norfolk Southern after 42 years. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. J.C. enjoyed working in the yard and doing crossword puzzles.

J.C. is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara J. Hawley; daughter, Shannon George; son, Jefferies C. Hawley, Jr.; grandchildren, Colby George and Carter George; and numerous nieces.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd. Suffolk, VA 23434 with Rev. Micah Voight officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society, P.O. Box 5038, Suffolk, VA 23435.
