Janice Proffitt Batten, 82, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024.  She was born in War, WV the daughter of the late Melvin and Ella Mae Fain Proffitt.  Janice is predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Eugene Batten.  She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher.  Janice retired from Farmer's Bank as a Bank Teller.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Belinda Batten Rupp (Duane), Renee Batten Cowan (Robert); grandchildren, John, April, Andrew, Tiffany, Crystal; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Harry Proffitt (Brenda); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, October 28, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk, VA 23435 with Rev.
