Janet Mae Gardner, 68, of Suffolk, VA passed away January 17, 2012. She was born in Nicholas County, West Virginia the daughter of the late Marjorie Hughes Dorsey and Arnett Boyd Dorsey. She was predeceased by her husband, David Benjamin Gardner, Sr. She retired after 21 years of service with First Baptist Church Daycare.

Janet is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharron L. and Michael L. Helton of Portsmouth, VA, Deborah Jane Gardner, Sandra K. and Robert K. Perrin all of Suffolk, VA; sons and daughter-in-law, David B. Gardner, Jr., Robert A. Gardner, Sr. and Laura L. Gardner all of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Robert Jr., Benjamin, and Sydney; sister, Judy McCown of WV; brothers, Steve Dorsey of WV, and Bruce Dorsey of FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. Jim George officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
