Janet Marie Crowell Carnello, a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 87. She was born in Randolph, Massachusetts, on April 21, 1939.

Janet worked as a sales associate for Sears, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and commitment to customer service. Beyond her professional life, she enjoyed sewing or completing intricate jigsaw puzzles. Janet also enjoyed lively games with friends.

A devout Christian, she was an active member of Harvest Assembly of God.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Mervin K. Crowell Sr. and Inez Smith Crowell; her beloved husband, Frank Anthony Carnello; and her siblings, Dorothy Benvi, Margaret Bagley, and Mervin K. Crowell Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Matteucci (Steve), Laurie Nowitzky (Michael), and Linda Wilkie (Jason); grandchildren, Mark, Abigail, Joseph, Neil, Noelle, Thomas, Vincent, Maria, Andrea, Elijiah, Eris, and Axel; 15 great grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Galvin.

A funeral service to honor Janet's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Fred Gray officiating. Following the service, burial will take place privately at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to Janet's heart.

Janet Marie Crowell Carnello will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in her journey.
