Jane Marenkovic
Jackson
February 9, 1964 – June 24, 2024
A fierce competitor. A fun yet caring, steadfast friend. A faithful, generous and loving Christian wife and mother. These are just a few ways to describe Jane Jackson. And she will be greatly missed by all blessed to have known her.
Born February 9, 1964 in Campbell, Ohio, Janie was a 1982 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Youngstown State University and taught Elementary school in Richmond before getting her Associate's degree in Nursing and switching careers.
This change eventually led her to Norfolk Christian Schools, where she served as the School Nurse until her Retirement in 2023.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, John Marenkovic and Jane Reichert Marenkovic. She leaves behind her loving husband of almost 37 years Michael Wayne Jackson (Suffolk) and three children: Cole Rountree (Jessica) of Midlothian, VA, Colin Jackson of Chesapeake, VA, and Maren Siebels (Caleb) of Portsmouth, VA.
Jane also leaves behind her siblings, John Marenkovic (Kelly), Ursula Baker (David), Cheryl Bolina (Mark) and Denise Frasco (Al), as well as a large number of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends around the country, too numerous to list.
Growing up in Campbell, Jane was an avid and accomplished athlete, competing in tennis, softball and basketball in High School and beyond. She was a fierce competitor in all aspects of life, but especially when competing in board games, yard games, sports and mini golf. May God have mercy on the person who cheated or changed the rules while she was playing a game!
Janie also loved to dance. She danced in high school and college as a member of the Dance Team and Marching Band for both Campbell and YSU. And she wasn't above taking out and twirling her baton for friends and family, when all had gathered together. She loved the outdoors, admiring God's creation, and fishing - always making sure to let the fact be known when she out-fished the guys.
Janie maintained a close relationship with her high school girl friends. The group of them loved to get together for an annual trip – destination unimportant. What mattered was the fellowship they all cherished, recounting memories while making new ones.
She was passionate about all things. She fervently loved the Lord and served him faithfully as an example of the "Proverbs 31" Woman. She was dedicated to her family and friends, and demonstrated dignity and courage throughout her life - but especially in the last several years when she was never truly healthy. She continued to press on, serving family and friends as if nothing was wrong with her. And she gave grace when one may not even believe it to be deserved. Janie, the race is won! Well done!
A celebration of life will be scheduled in August. Details will be posted on Social Media, to come. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, t2t.org in her name.
