Jan Duane Archer, 67, of Zuni, VA passed away on August 22, 2011. A native of Butler County, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Archer and Evelyn L. Moore Archer. He was also predeceased by his wife, Virginia Halahurich Archer. He was a maintenance plumber for the Suffolk Public Schools. Jan served his country by serving in the U. S. Navy and afterwards in the Navy Reserves until retirement and was a member of the AARP.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kellie A. and Steve Redd of Suffolk and Michele L. and Mike Marsee of Zuni; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. and Christy Archer of Carrollton; six grandchildren: Dustyn Bain, Thornton Redd, Zackary Bain, Seth Archer, Hunter Bain, Sarah Archer; a sister, Terri Cammisa and brothers Joseph Archer and Gary Archer.

A funeral service will be held at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Bryan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7 – 8 p.m. for visitation and other times at the residence.
