Jamie Scott Powell, 23, passed away March 17, 2014. He was born in Fort Walton Beach, FL the son of Georgianna J. Powell and James G. Poole. He graduated in 2009 from Kings Fork High School in Suffolk, VA. He was actively involved in physical fitness. He was a swimmer and formerly worked for the Niceville, FL and Suffolk, VA YMCA as a lifeguard. Jamie currently served in the United States Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S. Russell in San Diego, CA.

Jamie was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Paula U. Poole. He is survived by his mother, Georgianna J. Powell; father and stepmother, James G. and Mikal E. Poole; brothers, James M. Poole and Curtis R. Poole; maternal grandparents, Jack and Sharlotte Powell; paternal grandparents; James L. Poole, Sam and Tanya Williams, Chuck and Dianne Erickson; aunts and uncles, Karla and Dave Jerrell, Shawn and Ann Poole, Daniel Poole, Virginia and Robin Parks, Joanna Poole, Scottie and Stacy Powell, Jackie Powell Frias, Jerry and Kelley Williams, Tammy Reeder, Barbara and Cary Balaban; and numerous other cousins.

A celebration of Jamie's life will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek - Fort Story at 1161 D. Ave., Virginia Beach, VA. Friends may join the family Friday night from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434 and other times at the residence of James and Mikal Poole.
