James "Jimmy" Wallace Wilkins, 91, passed away January 21, 2007. He was born in Nansemond County the son of the late, Wallace and Nora Baines Wilkins. He was also predeceased by his wife, Mabel Holland Wilkins, his brother, Ervin Wilkins and step son, James Hugh Holland. Jimmy was a longtime grocery clerk and retired from Dailey's Market. He was a member of Suffolk Christian Church where he was a member of the Baraca Class. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran after serving during WWII. He was also an avid fisherman.
James is survived by his step daughter, Audrey H. Beck and her husband Philip of Suffolk, VA; step sons, Paul "Cotton" Holland and his wife Barbara of Suffolk, VA, Hudson Ray Holland and his wife Ditte of Gulfport, MS; step daughter-in-law, Maureen Holland of Chesapeake, VA, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; niece, Ann W. Bunch of Suffolk, VA and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Friends may join the family other times at the residence of Paul "Cotton" and Barbara Holland at 1641 Ronald Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434.
