James Donald Slagle, 64, husband of Betty Elliott Slagle, left this earthly journey and reached his heavenly destination n Jan. 24, 2012 after a valiant fight with cancer.

Born in Dallas, TX, he was the son of the late, Donald Sabin and Irene Brooks Slagle. Jim was an Air Force veteran. He was a heavy equipment operator for several area construction companies, and always said he learned from the best, Freddy Paul of Hampton.

In addition to his wife of 33 years, he leaves behind many cousins, friends, and his faithful Rottweiler, Sadie Mae.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Healing Water Worship Center, 12172 Smiths Neck Rd., Carrollton, VA 23314 with Pastor William McCarty officiating. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
