James Robert Simmerman, 80, passed away April 10, 2015. He was born in Smyth County, VA the son of Myrtle H. Simmerman and the late Joseph R. Simmerman. James was a United States Army veteran. He later went on to own and operate his own painting and auto body works company. He was a member of Maranatha Southern Baptist Church in Windsor, VA.

Including his mother, James is survived by his wife, Barbara G. Simmerman; children and their spouses, Debra Thomas (Danny), Lynn Simmerman, and Robbie Simmerman (Yelan); 9 stepchildren; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Bill Simmerman (Mildred); caregiver, Yvette King.

Friends may join the family for a visitation, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Maranatha Southern Baptist Church, Windsor, VA with Revs. Clyde Alderman and Tim Rawls officiating.
