James Edward Parker, 85, of Suffolk, passed away on July 14, 2010. A native of Suffolk he was the son of the late Joseph Bernie Parker and Telzie Williams Parker. He was also predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Virginia Jones Parker, and his brothers, William Thurman (W.T.) Parker and Bobby Parker. James served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He worked as a foreman at Lipton Tea until he retired and was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and Sammy Copeland of Suffolk and Teresa and John D. Nurney, Jr. of Smithfield; grandchildren: John David Nurney, III, Heather Sarles and Dana Copeland; and sisters, Martha Richards, Frances Brown and Shirley Rountree.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with Rev. Roger Johnson and Rev. Mark Burns officiating.
