James "Jim" "Papa" Andrew Schairer, 80, passed away June 28, 2023.  He was born in Syracuse, NY the son of the late Herman Conrad Schairer and Elizabeth Irene Landers Schairer.  He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Carol Schairer and his grandson, Kyle Sibert.  Jim retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service.  He later went on to work for Norfolk Public Schools and retired after 15 years.  He was a member of the Norfolk Elks Lodge #38 and the American Legion Post #327.

Jim is survived by his 8 children; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister, and Mary Shepard.

Military Honors and Elks Rites will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  A time of fellowship will follow at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UNOS the United Network of Organ Sharing at www.unos.org.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
