James Ralph Nixon, formerly of Windsor, Va. passed away on December 19, 2008 at the home of his daughter in Mobile, Alabama. He was born in North Carolina in 1922, the son of the late James Richard Nixon and Mary Carver Nixon. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving as a pharmacist mate during WWII. Ralph was a member of Colosse Baptist Church. He retired as a farmer and as a shipping clerk for Vitex Corporation in Suffolk, VA. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Jeanette Hines Nixon.
Ralph is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol Nixon Woodard and James Allen Woodard of Mobile, AL; step grandchildren, Sean and Chad Woodard; step great grandchildren, Nikki and Tony Woodard.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery and there will be a reception at the church after the burial.
