Obituary

James "Pete" Menalcus King, 67, passed away May 22, 2015. He was born in Suffolk, VA to the late Gladys Scott King and Herman King. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joann Hazlett. Pete retired from VDOT as the Stockroom Supervisor. He was a Boy Scout leader and co-founder of the Kingsboro Bowmen Archery Association where he won multiple state championships. He was an avid hunter, golfer and a member of the Black Creek Hunt Club. Pete was a musician and played bass in a high school band. He also played soul, rock and country music and was a member of "Southern Express" and "Stronghold" and won several awards.

Pete is survived by his wife of 22 years, Charlotte Smith King; step daughters, Kathryn Altman (David) and Jean Xenakis (Vinny); step sons, Robbie Babb (Linda) and Jimmy Babb (Lisa); grandchildren, Robert Altman, Nicholas Altman, Chris Xenakis, Gracie Babb and Ally Babb.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday night from 7-8 pm at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk Virginia 23434. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 870 Greenbrier Circle, Green Tower II, Suite 404, Chesapeake, VA, 23320.
