James "Jim" Raymond Mann, aged 83, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in his hometown of Suffolk, Virginia. Born on August 27, 1942, Jim lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and country.

Jim proudly served as a member of the United States Air Force, exemplifying the values of service and duty that he carried with him throughout his life. Following his military service, Jim embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a Pipefitter in the maintenance department at Union Camp/International Paper, where he worked diligently until his retirement. He mentored many and will be remembered as being unafraid to always be himself, having a reputation of doing work ‘the right way, no matter how difficult or how anyone else said to do it’. He always had a good sense of humor and was known to many he worked with as “Mikie”. He always spoke fondly of his work friends and missed his times with them after retirement.

As a devoted member of Suffolk Christian Church, Jim's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with others. He was very involved in different committees over his 50 years there, and particularly enjoyed working with the Food Pantry for many years. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and commitment that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Jim is preceded in death by his beloved parents, James A. Mann, Jr. and Nancy J. Mann, and his nephew, Nick LoCascio. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Patricia M. Mann; their daughter, Stephanie Remy, and her husband, David; his cherished grandchildren, Neal Davis, Jr. (Corin), Rhiannon Remy, Jordan Remy (Mallory), and Jessica Remy; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Gwen and Jake Remy. He is also survived by his sister, Anna LoCascio, and her husband, Ted and his sister-in-law Florence Pavlak, his loving aunt, Anita DeJarnette, and his many nieces, nephews and cousins..

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to his caregiver and now family member, Darlene Harris for the loving, compassionate, and tireless care provided to James over the past two years.
