Mr. James Alonzo Cook, Sr. passed away on January 29, 2023 at the age of 87.  A native of Benton, IL, he moved to Suffolk after serving in the United States Navy.  He was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge #141.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Virginia Cook; parents, Helen E. Cook and Lyle J. Cook; sister, Lila L. Cook-Raul; and son, Roy Cook.

James is survived by his sons, Lyle Cook (Ann) of Gloucester and James Alonzo Cook, Jr. (Katrina) of Suffolk; brother, Roy Brown (Shirley) of Mt. Vernon, IL; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 12 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Ricky Garza officiating.  Burial will follow at Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Wednesday night from 7 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
