James "Jimmy" Albert Carpenter, Sr., 63, of Suffolk, VA passed away on December 3, 2012. A native of Isle of Wight County, VA he was the son of the late Julius Caesar Carpenter and Lillian Duck Carpenter. Jimmy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a pipefitter/certified welder at Earl Industries.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lillie R. Carpenter; daughters and sons-in-law: Donna L. and Emmett Bresko and Deborah J. and Jeffrey L. Byrd; sons and daughters-in-law: James Albert Carpenter, Jr. and wife Christy; Christopher D. and Stephanie Carpenter and James Earl Shatto; adopted daughter Jennifer Edwards; eighteen grandchildren; and sisters Estelle Turner and Katie Goins.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 12:00 noon at Parr Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Western Branch Baptist Church cemetery.
